After graduating with a B.A. from New York University, Dain enjoyed work in restaurant and nightlife P.R., working on accounts for clients such as D'Artagnan Foods, Peter Kump's Culinary School, the 4-Star NYT's rated L'Espinasse, as well as multiple projects for some of the biggest international DJ's, clubs, album launches, & festivals worldwide. The exposure led to being scouted as a production manager for one of South Korea's Big 3 artist management groups - JYP Entertainment - for their first major US tour. In this capacity, Dain not only worked directly with CEO/Founder J.Y. Park to assist the brokering of the label's North American HQ's in NYC, but to also bring a new wave of top charting K-Pop artists to sold out audiences at venues including the theater at Madison Square Garden as well.
This cross-cultural relationship continued as Dain started his own career in real estate when joining The Corcoran Group in early 2006, where he was recruited by the brokerage's CEO and head of the Sunshine Marketing division as liaison between investors from the Asia markets (specifically Korea) and selling new development projects like Extell's 100 Riverside (The Avery), 2628 Broadway & 245 W. 99th (Ariel East/West), 350 W. 42nd (The Orion), 32 W. 18th & 15 W. 20th (Altair 18/20), and the Carlyle Group's 485 Park Ave. Over the next decade, Dain naturally transitioned into building his own successful business as a broker out of the top producing Chelsea/Flatiron office in Manhattan; ranking in the top 2% of over 47,000 NRT agents nationwide and a member of the prestigious multi-million dollar club.
In 2017, Dain was asked to join the Peter's/O'Brien Team @ Douglas Elliman, ranking top 1% Nationwide (WSJ Real Trends), the #1 Team in Brooklyn ('15/'17), #1 in Williamsburg ('12-'18), #2 in total number of transactions for Brooklyn compared with all other brokerages in NYC (The Real Deal - '18), and with $850M+ in sales since its forming in 2011. Responsible for overseeing sales for a number of new development projects, together the team closed $225M in sales between 2017-2018 alone.
A seasoned expert in multiple boroughs of both sales and rentals in new development, condos, co-ops, townhomes, investment properties, 1031 exchanges, rent regulated buildings, and portfolio management, Dain believes providing honest, detail oriented, and personalized service - no matter what the client’s needs and budget - is the key to creating long term successful relationships. Exposure at a very early age via the family real estate business to a myriad of experiences (from commercial leasing, appraisals, property management, etc.) also allows Dain to provide a wide wealth of knowledge as part of his full service approach.
Through the years he has worked with a wide range of personalities that run the gamut over various industries, from first time home buyers to seasoned investors, at all price points. Past clientele include the MSG Co. relocating athletes for the NY Knicks, Rangers, and Liberty, JYP Entertainment and its roster of talent, lead executives from LG Electronics, Samsung, Google, AMC, Red Bull, Ford Models, Saatchi & Saatchi, Rokkan Media, Rockstar Games, Oscar de la Renta, Steve Madden, Gucci, as well as award winning artists including actors/musicians/international DJs/producers/designers, and more.
Along with partner Mathew Krem, also a proud member of Douglas Elliman, they bring to the table twenty years of combined experience and over $300,000,000 in closed sales to date. They are not only homeowners in Brooklyn but also oversees multiple investment portfolios throughout the area for both family and clientele; allowing for valuable insights into both sides of the table as sellers/buyers/landlords & tenants.
When not imbibed in real estate, Dain enjoys honing his creative skill set through the culinary arts (previously seen as a cast member of Food Network’s “All-Star Academy" Season 2 with mentor Chef Curtis Stone), testing his skills at poker, DJing the occasional gig such as the 2017-2018 NYC Pride Parades, being an avid traveler that loves to eat the world, or uncovering hidden gems throughout the city with rescue dogs Izzy & Burrito in tow!
